4 Fun Reasons to Book a Fall Camping Weekend

4 Fun Reasons to Book a Fall Camping Weekend

Although we love our epic summer adventures in the RV, fall might be our favorite season for camping. The temperatures drop, the Dutch oven gets dusted off, and the changing leaves create stunning scenery at the campground.

Plus, in recent years, more and more campgrounds have started hosting themed weekends in an attempt to keep the campsites full even though school is back in session. If you haven’t enjoyed some of these fall events, you are definitely missing out. Here are four fun reasons to book a fall camping weekend.

1. Halloween Weekends
Halloween weekends have grown in popularity over the last few years, and it is not uncommon for some campgrounds to host four or five events in the weeks leading up to the big day. Costume parades, haunted hayrides, and pumpkin painting are just some of the activities you will find. And trick or treating at the campground is an absolute blast. Even if your kids are all grown up, it is a hoot to decorate the RV and pass out candy to all the little ghosts and goblins.

2. Harvest Festivals
Many campgrounds are now hosting harvest festivals with corn mazes, apple pie contests, and pumpkin patches. We have seen campgrounds teach guests how to make caramel apples and build scarecrows. If you love fall, but are not crazy about Halloween, harvest festivals might be the perfect way to enjoy a crisp fall weekend.

3. Oktoberfest Celebration
If your favorite thing about fall is comfort food and pumpkin ale, find a campground that is hosting an Oktoberfest Celebration. Many of these weekends will feature potluck dinners, arts and crafts workshops, traditional games, and even German bands. After you indulge in all that delicious food and drink, your RV and campfire are just a few steps away.

4. Tailgating Parties
Campgrounds near colleges and universities tap into the local team spirit and host tailgating parties right on site. This is where the portable grills and smokers come out and camp chefs show off all their best food chops. Rigs are decorated in team colors and many folks watch the game right on their RV flat screen. If you love to cheer your team on with a crowd, book a site at a tailgating campground this fall.

You might think things get quieter once kids head back to school, but many campgrounds are gearing up with great ways to celebrate cooler weather and warm campfires. Check out your local RV parks to find out what fall festivals are on the schedule for the next two months!
