The halls are fully decked in Nashville, where Jellystone Park™ Campground is located just down the road from the Opryland Hotel. For the first time, the park is host to Shadrack’s Christmas Wonderland, a world-renowned holiday light show set to your favorite holiday songs. Featuring hundreds of thousands of energy-efficient LED lights synchronized and dancing to classic tunes like the “Hallelujah Chorus”, this is one of the biggest light shows in the country! When the drive is done, visit Santa’s Village and warm up with cider or cocoa, toast a s’more, get your picture taken with Santa Claus, and visit the gift shop and Kids’ Craft Corner. The fully-computerized, custom-designed drive-thru holiday light tour is open 6-10 p.m. through January 2. Admission is $25 per carload, or reserve a Sugar Creek Carriage ride and enjoy the show in the open air (blankets are provided.) Guests will also receive a free local discount card valid for all of 2011.
If you grew up in the Southeast, chances are the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area was your idea of nirvana. And autumn is the perfect time to experience the breathtaking beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains and the hundreds of family attractions that surround this destination. From hiking, horseback riding and leaf-spotting on rugged mountain trails, to Dollywood, Hillbilly Golf, the Ripley’s Aquarium and Believe It or Not Museum, and the world-class dining and shopping of Gatlinburg itself (don’t miss the Pigeon Forge outlet malls), absolutely everyone enjoys this spectacular region.
And as always, Yogi Bear™ is right in the middle of the fun. The Great Smoky Jellystone™ Park Campground is nestled at the edge of the national park and is a relaxing haven only minutes from the hustle bustle of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. Guests can bring their RVs or tents, or book a rental cabin. This year the park added Mr. Ranger’s Cabin, a restored historical log cabin that’s available for rent year-round. While you’re there enjoy the kids’ activities, game room, mini golf, Yogi Bear’s theater, a playground and more. The Great Smoky Mountain Jellystone Park is open through November 29, and every weekend between now and then is packed with wholesome fall fun.
