The average camper spends 14.9 days camping per year whether they’re staying in a yurt, tent, your own RV, or renting a cabin. During this time, camping because even more fun when your snacks and meals are delicious! Here are some awesome recipes that you can make over the fire, or in your cabin kitchen with your family to make your next camping trip a blast.
- Sriracha Popcorn
Popcorn doesn’t have to be boring and flavorless. Place popcorn kernels and vegetable oil into a square of aluminum foil. Tie the foil with string and attach to a long stick to place carefully over the fire. Be sure not to get too close to the flames! When the popcorn has sufficiently popped, drizzle Sriracha butter across it for an extra bit of flavor.
- Dutch Oven Pizza
In a pan, place pre-made pizza dough at the bottom and coat with pizza sauce. Place any additional toppings you want such as cheese, veggies, and pepperoni onto the sauce. Then cook in your oven as per instructions. Using tortillas as pizza crust can also be quick and easy and won’t heat up your kitchen this summer!
For the cheese lovers and vegetarians in your family, campfire quesadillas are a great meal to make together. Start by spreading salsa over a side of a tortilla, then sprinkle black beans and cheese over the salsa. After folding the tortilla over, place the quesadilla onto a piece of tin foil and cover. But be sure to keep the ends of the foil open to allow the quesadilla to aerate. Then place the quesadilla directly over the fire on the food grate until the cheese has melted.
- Reese’s S’mores
Instead of using your standard Hershey’s chocolate on your s’mores, consider using full sized Reese’s peanut butter cups for an extra bit of salty flavoring to spice up the sweetness of the desert.
