— Sweepstakes prizes including a week-long stay at any one of the 75+ Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park™ Camp-Resorts in the United States and $750 in gift cards, plus an RV from Keystone RV Company

— Online pledges to camp will result in the planting of up to 5,000 native trees by youth groups nationwide

Join thousands of happy campers nationwide who are taking the pledge to protect wildlife during the National Wildlife Federation’s 14th annual Great American Campout™. Pledging to participate in The Great American Campout™ at https://www.nwf.org/Great-American-Campout is free and open to all ages. This initiative encourages camping by anyone, anywhere (park, beach, campground, forest, or backyard), and by any means (RV, tent, cabin, under the stars, etc.) throughout the summer and into autumn 2018 — of course we think a Jellystone Park is the BEST place to camp!

Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park™ Camp-Resorts and Keystone RV Company are returning as partners in the Great American Campout. To encourage families to get outside and camp this summer, everyone who pledges online at NWF.org/Campout will be entered into the 2018 sweepstakes with prizing that includes a week-long stay at one of 75+ U.S. Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park™ Camp-Resorts of their choice (plus a $500 gift card for travel expenses and a $250 Jellystone Park™ gift card) and a 20th anniversary Springdale Mini 1800 (valued at $15,500).

During the Great American Campout™, special events will be hosted by Jellystone Park™ Camp-Resorts to profile the amazing experiences individuals and families can have camping anywhere in the United States.  This year, everyone who camps at a Jellystone Park will be counted as participating in the Great American Campout.  Events will feature family friendly activities including guided nature walks, wildlife themed crafts, scavenger hunts, camping tips & how-to demonstrations, and more. Planned camping events include the following:

Campers are encouraged to take selfies of themselves camping (“Campies”) and submit them to NWF’s Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts using the hashtags #campie and #GreatAmericanCampout to share their experiences and create an extended community of participants year after year.

In an effort to increase native tree populations critical to America’s wildlife and the preservation of our great outdoors, when people commit to taking the Great American Campout™ pledge, they help make it possible for 5,000 regionally-specific native trees to be donated to the National Wildlife Federation’s Trees for Wildlife™ program. The Trees for Wildlife™ program enlists pre-approved youth groups to make a commitment to plant and maintain the trees to ensure that they will provide food and shelter for wildlife for many years to come.

Connecting kids with nature and outdoor play has shown proven health benefits. A 2016 study from Plymouth University in the UK found that children who camp in the great outdoors at least once a year go on to perform better in school and are healthier and happier according to their parents.  The study also revealed that 98% of parents feel camping makes their kids appreciate and connect with nature; 95% of parents feel their kids are happier when camping; and 93% feel that it provides useful self-reliance skills for later in life.

The National Wildlife Federation’s website – https://www.nwf.org/Great-American-Campout.aspx– has a directory of public GreatAmerican Campout™ events, camping tips, lists of fun activities and recipes, sweepstakes rules and prizing information, and much more. Registration is free.
