Yogi Bear™ Comes to Nintendo

Yogi Nintendo

You read right: that Smarter-Than-The-Average bear has arrived in video game format, set to take your family on an adventure through Jellystone Park™ without ever leaving the house.

“Yogi Bear™: The Video Game” is now available for Nintendo Wii ($39.95) and Nintendo DS ($29.95). In both versions, Jellystone Park is in danger of shutting down. On Wii, players act as Yogi Bear while belly sliding, zip-lining and sneaking through majestic levels to save the day! You’ll explore four unique, massive areas within Jellystone Park; use Yogi’s flying glider; sneak past campers to collect merit badges and ‘pic-a-nic’ baskets; and use the Wii motion controls to shake the bushes and uncover hidden pick-ups, all on the way to keep the park open.

On the Nintendo DS, players again act as Yogi Bear while they explore Jellystone Park and create crazy gadgets to save the day. They’ll explore a variety of areas straight from the film; build gadgets like Slidey Skates, Propeller Hat, Spring Shoes and more; play as Boo Boo Bear™ in a special minigame to unlock photo stills from the movie; and avoid campers, dogs, skunks, squirrels and other obstacles to keep land developers from shutting down Jellystone!

You can find “Yogi Bear: The Video Game” at Gamestop, Toys R Us, Target, and Amazon.com. It’s the perfect way to help keep kids from going stir-crazy during those long snow days this winter!

Kansas Gets it’s First Jellystone Park!

Wagon Rides at the Kansas City Jellystone Park

Located at 1473 Hwy 40 in Lawrence, Kansas, owners Ralph and Kim Newell are the first park owners from Kansas to join the Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park franchise system. When they bought the campground 10 years ago, they knew they had their work cut out for them. The park was in “tough shape,” but after investing $750,000 in improvements, the Newell’s have transformed their campground into a popular family friendly destination.

With 95 sites in all, Kansas City Jellystone is sure to please any type of camper with pull-thru sites, tenting sites, and a variety of amperes to accommodate any need.

Other amenities include internet access, Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, a snack/dinner bar, and a convenience store for those precious Yogi Bear souvenirs or last minute camping necessities.  There are also meeting rooms, and pets are welcome, so even Fido can join in on the fun.

For all your family’s entertainment needs, one can take a dip in the pool, run on the playground, fish, enjoy live entertainment, bounce about on the jumping pillow, sing along to songs on a wagon ride, or compete in classic games like basketball or volleyball on the sports courts. Of course every family enjoys Jellystone Park’s signature themed weekends, which includes everything from ice cream socials to flashlight candy hunts, hayrides to outdoor movies. This year, in fact, the Newell’s have planned nearly 30 themed weekends, including a “Death by Chocolate” and “Murder Mystery” week, as well as a 1950′s week and a “Christmas in July” celebration with campsite decorating contests, and free admission to children under 16.

The park also operates a corn maze in the fall and this year will have its first pumpkin patch in advance of Halloween.

Nearby attractions include golfing, museums, lakes, parks and trails, not to mention the park is just 45 minutes west of downtown Kansas City.

“Anybody can provide a place to stay overnight,” Newell said, adding, “What we want to do is get that customer to want to come back again and again.”

Water Spray Grounds are Great Summer Time Fun!

All of our campgrounds have sparkling pools for soaking, splashing and relaxing, but Jellystone Park’s premiere beat-the-heat play place is Yogi Bear’s Water Zone “Splash Ground.” Found at many of our parks, these playgrounds in the water add a new element of fun to the old-fashioned swimming pool. Whether it’s the mushroom shaped showers, squirting water cannons or buckets of water dumped on unsuspecting heads, everyone in the family is sure to keep cool while having a blast. There are even zero-entry levels for the smallest members of the family to safely enjoy. Just a few of the campgrounds featuring this one-of-a-kind water play include Bremen, Georgia; Robert, Louisiana; and Quarryville, Pennsylvania. For a complete listing of the campgrounds with Yogi Bear’s Water Zone, please visit Splashgrounds.

For the more daring members in your family, many of our parks have twisting, turning and gravity defying waterslides. Jellystone Parks such as Mammoth Cave, Kentucky; Woodstock, New Brunswick; Waller, Texas; Marion, North Carolina and Fremont, Wisconsin have super flumes that take riders on a journey with all the thrills of a theme park, giving parents the perfect answer to the perennial kid question, “What can we do now?” For more water sliding fun filled parks, see Waterslides.

On top of all the pools, splashes, and thrilling water slide fun, some of our other Jellystone Parks offer lakes, rivers and streams which include outrageous fun like boating, fishing, rafting, and sandy beaches to wade and swim in. For our list of ways to get wet, see Family Fun.

So gather the family, beat the heat and head out to a Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park near you! For more information visit our website at www.campjellystone.com or call 1-800-558-2954 and take advantage of the all the wet and wild summer time fun!
