Family Reunions...Jellystone Park Style

September 3, 2011

Family reunions are a great way to spend your family vacation. Family reunions are a time for cousins, grandparents, in-laws and distant relations to come together and spend days and evenings retelling the tales of years gone. Reunions are also a time for rebuilding friendships and bonds that have gone neglected over the years. Family reunions also give you a chance to meet all the new family members who have joined in recent years and more than anything they are a time for fun and relaxation.

Family Reunion Activities - Volleyball

Have Your Reunion at a Jellystone Park

One of the best locations for hosting a family reunion is at a Jellystone Park Campground. Family members are often scattered all over and so selecting a centrally located Jellystone Campground can be perfect, that way no one has to travel overly far. Additionally, Jellystone Parks are prepared to accommodate the lodging needs of anyone, with tent spaces, RV sites, and cabin rentals.

Here are some other reasons why choosing a Jellystone Park Campground for your family reunion is a good idea:

  • Age appropriate – One of the neatest things about a family reunion is the age range. There seems to be someone of every age at a family reunion – teens, middle-agers, seniors, toddlers, babies, young adults and everything in between. Jellystone Parks offers fun activities for nearly every age. The kids can have plenty of fun in the pool and game room while the adults enjoy soaking up the sun or talking around the campfire. The whole family can enjoy a game of volleyball or basketball or the grandparents can take the grandchildren on a walk on a nature path. At Jellystone Park no one should feel left out because of their age.
  • Reservations – If you are planning a family reunion at Jellystone Park, you can be sure that the staff will work with you to make the reunion a memorable event. Everything from finding close campsites or RV sites, to reserving a covered pavilion can be handled with ease. At Jellystone you can be sure of getting the help you need to make your event go smoothly.
  • Location – Not only is there many different Jellystone Park locations, but most are close to other attractions. So while the park provides many fun activities, you can, as a family, spend a day or two exploring the local area. All sorts of activities may be at your disposal, everything from visiting a natural history museum to seeing the site of an old fort. Most Jellystone campgrounds are close to one or two interesting attractions and several hiking options.
  • Price Camping at a Jellystone Campground will be less expensive than staying in a hotel and you will have more opportunities for family interaction.

So find a Jellystone Park that is convenient for everyone and make your reservation. We are certain that your family will have a great time.

Kansas Gets it's First Jellystone Park!

July 8, 2010

Located at 1473 Hwy 40 in Lawrence, Kansas, owners Ralph and Kim Newell are the first park owners from Kansas to join the Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park franchise system. When they bought the campground 10 years ago, they knew they had their work cut out for them. The park was in “tough shape,” but after investing $750,000 in improvements, the Newell’s have transformed their campground into a popular family friendly destination.

With 95 sites in all, Kansas City Jellystone is sure to please any type of camper with pull-thru sites, tenting sites, and a variety of amperes to accommodate any need.

Other amenities include internet access, Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, a snack/dinner bar, and a convenience store for those precious Yogi Bear souvenirs or last minute camping necessities.  There are also meeting rooms, and pets are welcome, so even Fido can join in on the fun.

For all your family’s entertainment needs, one can take a dip in the pool, run on the playground, fish, enjoy live entertainment, bounce about on the jumping pillow, sing along to songs on a wagon ride, or compete in classic games like basketball or volleyball on the sports courts. Of course every family enjoys Jellystone Park’s signature themed weekends, which includes everything from ice cream socials to flashlight candy hunts, hayrides to outdoor movies. This year, in fact, the Newell’s have planned nearly 30 themed weekends, including a “Death by Chocolate” and “Murder Mystery” week, as well as a 1950’s week and a “Christmas in July” celebration with campsite decorating contests, and free admission to children under 16.

The park also operates a corn maze in the fall and this year will have its first pumpkin patch in advance of Halloween.
