Jellystone Parks Support Camp Sunshine
2007 was a record-breaking year for support of Jellystone Park's franchise charity, Camp Sunshine, which is a very special program that provides respite, support, joy and hope to children with life-threatening illnesses and their immediate families. Many campgrounds collected guest donations, ran special fundraising events, and made corporate donations to this wonderful program, resulting in more than $11,000 provided to Camp Sunshine from the Jellystone Park system. With the average cost to send a family for a week hovering at $1500, we were able to completely cover the cost for seven children and their families.
Thank you to all our guests who helped us bring a little sunshine to these kids and their families!

Summer Stargazing
Although the nights are shorter, they are also warmer, making for a great opportunity to spread a blanket (or get out the telescope) and do a little stargazing. Whether it's a fun evening for the family or a romantic interlude for two, here are a few tips for getting most out of the celestial skies.
- Choose a clear night with no storms in the forecast. Clouds make it tough to find constellations!
- The darker the sky, the better. Try to find a place as far away as possible from street lights and especially pollution. It also helps to get a little altitude, so get a little evening exercise by climbing that hill.
- Year round, residents of the Northern Hemisphere can see Ursa Major (the Big Dipper), Ursa Minor (the Little Dipper), Cassiopeia, Cepheus, and Draco. These are known as "circumpolar constellations."
- In the late spring, we can also view Bootes, Cancer, Crater, Hydra, Leo and Virgo.
- Don't forget mosquito repellant!

Something about Salad As spring heats up into summer, appetites get lighter. Out go the hearty, steaming hot casserole comfort foods, and in come the delicate flavors of grilled fish and the cool, fresh taste of salad. This month, we've got a camper favorite to share. It's filling enough to serve as a main dish, or offer smaller portions for a tasty side. Chicken Pasta Salad
- 2 (16 ounce) pkgs. Bow tie pasta
- 2 (16 ounce) pkgs. Louis Rich chicken breast strips, grilled
- 1 ¾ (12 ounce) bottles Girard's Caesar salad dressing
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1 tsp. basil
- 1 (8 ounce) tub 100% parmesan cheese
Cook pasta, drain and cool. Mix all ingredients together. You can either chill several hours or eat at room temperature. Add paprika to garnish. Thanks to Jellystone Park guest Gayle Bauer for the recipe.
