High Cost of Gas
Makes Camping Close to Home an Affordable Option
With average gas
prices across the country topping $4 a gallon, people everywhere are
re-examining their travel options to get the most bang for their buck. Nowhere is the crunch felt more than among
RV owners, who could pay more than $600 for a single tank of gas. But according to a recent survey by the RV
Industry Association (RVIA), 76 percent of RV owners still plan to use their
RVs as much as last spring and summer.
Consider their suggestions for enjoying your recreational vehicle while
still staying within your travel budget.
- Drive or tow your RV at 55 mph
- Minimize the use of air conditioning by
opening the windows
- Turn off the lights during the day
- Use solar panels for power
- Visit a destination campground (like
Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts) where there is plenty to do onsite
- Cook your own food instead of going out
to eat
- Stick closer to home to cut down on
driving - you may find a new favorite Jellystone Park Camp-Resort!
Many campgrounds
are creating programs to encourage RVers to continue to visit while minding
their budgets. Frankenmuth Jellystone
Park is allowing guests to store their camper for a small fee so
they don't have to burn gas driving back and forth from home. www.frankenmuthjellystone.com
And at the Jellystone Park in Sturbridge, MA, you can camp for the entire month of July or August for $999! Call 508.347.9570 or visit www.jellystonesturbridge.com for more information on their "Gas Crunch Special."
Check with the Jellystone Park nearest you to see if they have any Gas Saver deals.

Riebee Introduces New Floating Water Sports & Games
Putting a whole new "spin" on the age-old pastime of skipping stones, Riebee's unique and entertaining floating water sports games are becoming a favorite new water game and toy for 2008.
Easy to master, Riebee's patent pending floating water skipping discs skim and glide across the surface of the water and you'll be amazed at just how far they skip! The games ccan be played by up to eight people; each game includes four discs, a scoring target and game instructions. Similar to the land-based version of Bocce or shuffleboard, players skip their discs across the surface of the water and onto the scoring target to score points. A video of the games can be seen at www.riebee.com.
Riebee's games emphasize skill and can be played in the pool, at the lake or the beach. They're fun for all ages and fit easily into a beach bag or swimsuit pocket! Check out their website to find one to take along on your next camping trip. |
