  • Riverboat Casinos

The riverboat casinos in Vicksburg are perfect for grown-ups who like to try their luck at games of chance. There are four casinos on the banks of the Mississippi River ? the Ameristar, the Horizon, Diamond Jacks and the Rainbow. Each one has its own dining options and the Ameristar offers live entertainment in its Bottleneck Blues Bar and Cabaret Lounge.

  • Petrified Forest

The Mississippi Petrified Forest in Flora is an ancient marvel. The only petrified forest in the Eastern United States, it’s an unforgettable journey back in time ? 36 million years to be exact. Stroll along the shaded trail, visit the Earth Science Museum where you can browse outstanding fossil collections, petrified wood and minerals from nature. Or get wet with a little "fluming" ? start with a bag of "mine muck", the real term for rocks out of mines. Wash and screen your mine muck to search for gems. Finders, keepers applies here ? whatever you find is yours to take home!
