Larry and Kim Jones, owners of the Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park campground in Canyon Lake, TX , have been recognized as Operators of the Year by the Jellystone Park franchise system.

The Operator of the Year Award is given to the individual or team directly responsible for the day-to-day operation of a Camp-Resort in recognition of excellence in management. Evaluation criteria include customer service, inspection ratings, daily management and business growth.

“God truly blessed us last year as we were able to flourish despite a season of drought, record heat and recession,” said Larry Jones, campground owner. “We are honored to receive the Operator of the Year Award.”

Located in the heart of beautiful Texas Hill Country, the campground is less than half a mile from the Guadalupe River and two miles from Canyon Lake, so water activities abound. Laser Tag, the popular Jumping Pillow and the Old Faceful Gem Mining Company set it apart; other amenities include indoor and outdoor pools, meeting rooms, a playground and planned weekend activities. Rustic tent sites and more than 150 RV sites accommodate campers, while 20 lodge rooms, five cottages (including two new this year) and RV rentals extend the fun to everyone. This year the park will install cable TV throughout most of the facility.

The Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park campground at Canyon Lake is open year-round.

In 2010, two campgrounds have earned the Facility of the Year award, which recognizes campgrounds that have added new amenities and facilities to their operations, and have shown sustained improvements overall. The first campground in North Java, NY saw tremendous growth in 2009 after opening Yogi Bear’s Water Zone – a 16,000 square foot interactive splash park featuring slides, a fort, water cannons and spray features. They also added deluxe cabins to increase their appeal to families. The second campground in Natural Bridge, VA , also added water attractions to their campground, including dual slides and multiple spray features.

Congratulations to these New York and Virginia campgrounds!

Sioux Falls Campground Wins Resort of the Year

kids can spend hours on the jumping pillow

While all Jellystone Park™ campgrounds offer excellent opportunities for family fun and top-notch camping, each year the system’s franchisor, Leisure Systems Inc., digs deep into the details to determine the very best of the best. This year, that campground is the Jellystone Park Camp-Resort of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and it’s been named Camp-Resort of the Year.

This is the highest honor that can be awarded to a Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park. The facility as well as its operators must exceed all Jellystone Park standards of operation. The recipient must be ranked in the Pinnacle Club (inspection rate of at least 95%), have shown a strong growth in business, implemented sustained improvements to the facilities and be viewed as a leader in the campground industry.

Jellystone Park campground at Sioux Falls offers some of the best family camping and entertainment in the region. Just three miles from the Falls of the Sioux River and near attractions like Catfish Bay’s recreational waterski park, the Great Plains Zoo and Wild Water West water and amusement park, this campground has large campsites and three types of cabins. Kids will love the Jumping Pillow (and parents will love how it tires the little ones out), while everyone will enjoy the heated pool and spa, indoor theater, miniature golf, arcade and theme weekends and daily activities in-season. The campground owners, the Aljets, are always ready with a warm welcome for guests.

Family Travel Forum

Family Travel Forum (FTF), the leading publisher of family vacation and travel websites, has named the winners of its 11th annual “Top 10 Getaways” awards. Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Parks are among those recognized as affordable vacation destinations.

For 2008, FTF editors searched beyond the “sale” signs to find hospitality and travel companies that are always committed to value, offering families a budget vacation. The Top 10 (Cheap) Getaway award winners raise the bar for family vacations by delivering friendly service, shared experiences and innovative amenities without breaking a parent’s piggybank. You can view the article here: “Top (Cheap) Campground Getaway: Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts.” (Note: The article states that we consider ourselves a destination vacation because we require a 3 night minimum. The 3 night minimum is only true for holiday weekends. (i.e., 4th of July, Labor Day)  We consider ourselves vacation destinations because of all the amenities and activities our campgrounds offer for families!)

The Jellystone Park franchise is a network of family-style campgrounds with over 70 locations in the U.S. and Canada.   To plan your next affordable family vacation, go to campjellystone.com/locations.
