Club Yogi Rewards

The Devich Family won the first Bass Pro Shops® Camping Gear Package in our July Auction!

“My family’s involvement with Jellystone Park™ and Yogi Bear™ began in July 2004 when we first rented an RV for three days at Mill Run, PA. We liked it so much that we kept increasing the time we stayed and “graduated” to a cabin in 2005. Eventually our stay was built up to two weeks – which, of course, by that time everyone at Mill Run was like family. The “Devich’s” love Yogi’s Jellystone Park and have a great deal of confidence in Bass Pro Shops® and their products. They are #1 for our camping needs.”
Thank you,
~Patty Devich

The Plemmons Family won the second Bass Pro Shops® Camping Gear Package!

“The photo is of my family and I was actually fortunate enough to have been asked to don the coveted outfit which my children were completely unaware. It was a fantastic experience and the entire staff at the Nashville Park couldn’t have been nicer. We stayed for 3 months and felt like family during that time. During our stay we were also fortunate enough to be able to attend the grand reopening of the Bass Pro Shop® in Nashville which had been closed due to the disastrous flood that impacted the region in May of 2010. It was quite an event as they were the first business within the mall area to reopen after the flood. We visited many more times during the remainder of our stay.
Thanks again to Jellystone Park and Bass Pro Shop for an incredible time,”
~Scott Plemmons

Kansas City Experiences Record Heat

RECORD SUMMER HEAT DOESN’T STOP FAMILIES FROM ENJOYING NIGHTLY CAMPFIRES WITH S’MORES AND OTHER FUN FAMILY ACTIVITIES AT JELLYSTONE-PARK CAMP RESORTS

LAWRENCE, Kan., July 25, 2011 – The Midwest may be suffering from one of its worst heat waves in years, but that doesn’t stop families from having nightly campfires at Jellystone Park Camp-Resort in Lawrence.

“Campfires and s’mores are always popular with families no matter how hot it gets,” said park manager Nancee Morris.

At Jellystone Parks, ice cream socials, swimming, and fun family activities with Yogi are also part of the camping experience.

“Our soft serve ice cream is a big hit,” Morris said, adding that the park is also selling lots of slushies, bottled water, pool toys and floaties – anything that helps keep our guests cool.”

The record heat has prompted Morris to re-arrange the daily activity schedules from 9 a.m. to noon and from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. to avoid the hottest parts of the day.

“We had a blast!” said Jamie Fenster, 25, of Bonner Springs, Kan., who spent this past weekend at the park with her husband and two children, Autum, 5, and Bailey, 2, each of whom celebrated their birthdays.

Although the Fensters don’t have an RV, that was no problem because the park has cabins for rent.

“We’d go out and do activities for a while, then go to the pool for a while, and then do more activities,” Fenster said, adding that the ice cream socials, face painting, jumping pillow and shuffle board games were especially fun for her kids.

The Fensters even got a chance to watch an outdoor showing of a children’s move, but their girls were so tired after Saturday’s activities that they fell asleep half way through it.

Jellystone activities begin at 9 a.m. each day during the summer and include a flag salute, “Hey” rides and firetruck rides, followed by tie-dye T-shirt craft classes. Popular afternoon activities include balloon catapulting, pool games and riding around the park in pedal karts, while evening entertainment includes outdoor movies.

Special themed events are also scheduled each weekend, including a Hawaiian Luau weekend July 29th to 31st with poolside luaus with Hawaiian music, a hot dog roast and limbo contests for adults and kids alike.

Special weekends in August include a “Yogi goes to Hollywood” weekend on Aug. 13th and 14th with a special dinner to be served in honor of the park’s past guests. A “Back to School” weekend is also scheduled for Aug. 19th and 20th with several activities, including an arts and crafts class in which kids will decorate their backpacks for school. Yogi Bear, Boo Boo, Cindy Bear and Ranger Smith will all be there to enjoy the activities as well.

Fall activities include several Halloween-themed weekends with a corn maze, the park’s first haunted house, a Halloween-themed campsite decorating contest and trick or treating.

“We’ll be coming back soon,” Fenster said, adding that she didn’t know a Jellystone Park existed in Lawrence even though she lives only about 20 minutes away.

Morris said many of her visitors this year include residents of the greater Kansas City area who have only recently discovered that a Jellystone Park is in their midst.

The campground, which previously operated under another name, had a grand reopening as a Jellystone Park in June after the owners invested more than $750,000 in improvements.

Celebrate Easter Traditions At Jellystone Park™

Ahh…Spring is finally here after a long and snowy winter. And the first big holiday weekend of the camping season is right around the corner. Here’s a sampling of the Easter activities at several Jellystone Park™ Campgrounds. Check the calendar at your favorite locations to see what they have planned.

Head to Memphis  for a weekend of traditional Easter activities like an egg hunt and egg dyeing. There will also be a spoon race (can you keep your egg on the spoon?!) and a coloring contest.

Jellystone Park in Fremont, Indiana is hosting an Easter Egg-stravaganza complete with an egg hunt and egg decorating. Kids will love to see live baby chicks and bunnies, and the whole family can fill up on free pancakes! And don’t forget your swimsuit because the indoor pool will be open.

For a fun twist, the Jellystone Park in Hagerstown, Maryland is hosting an egg hunt for adults only. The eggs contain valuable prizes like store coupons and game room tickets. The hunt takes place once the sun goes down, which makes it extra competitive!

In the south, Canyon Lake, Texas has a special flashlight hunt for older kids, plus crafts and pancakes. While you’re there, check out the progress on the new swimming pool (set to open this summer) and take a warm dip in the heated indoor pool.

Experience a German Easter Celebration in Frankenmuth, MI , dubbed “Michigan’s Little Bavaria.” Once a year in the area of Franconia Germany one will find many wells, trees, buildings and fountains richly decorated with colored Easter eggs, pine-branch garland and spring flowers. This tradition of decorating Easter Fountains in Germany is over 200 years old and many cities and villages in Franconia Germany still follow this tradition. Since Franconia is the area from which Frankenmuth’s early settlers originated, they mirror the Osterbrunnen tradition.

So clean out the RV, dust off your tent or book a cabin and head to Jellystone Park to celebrate Easter and welcome the warm weather!

Spring Into The 2001 Camping Season

Heard the birds singing again at last? Gotten a peek of a daffodil trying to poke its way through the soil? Enjoyed a brief tease of things soon to come on a warm March day? Spring is just about here, and with it, the 2011 camping season for all our Jellystone Park™ Campgrounds. While many of you have continued to camp with our year-round parks, we are so excited to welcome everyone back to our seasonal parks as well – and we have more Yogi Bear-style fun than ever in store for this season. Let’s take a look at how one park in each region is celebrating spring and its biggest holiday, Easter.

For a friendly dose of Southern hospitality, visit Yogi on the Lake in Pelahatchie, Mississippi , where you’ll find excellent fishing on the 95-acre Pelahatchie Lake plus miniature golf, Yogi Bear Water Town- a splash playground, a sandy beach with volleyball, and tennis courts – as well as fully-equipped campsites and lakefront cabins. Celebrate Everything Spring Weekend April 15-17, when kids can plant their own flower pot in the park’s activity center, and the whole family will enjoy nature hikes, dodge ball and crafts. And Easter Weekend (April 22-24) just might bring a visit from the Easter Bunny himself – he’ll want to check out the Easter egg coloring and hunt that will be going on.

In the wild, wild West, you’ll love the spectacular views of Jellystone Park in Larkspur, Colorado , located on a bluff in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Celebrate Earth Weekend (April 22-24) offers a wonderful opportunity to get back into the outdoors with plenty of hiking, biking, Frisbee golf, and pedal carts. Stay outside for geocaching, the fossil dig sandbox, playground, archery range and fishing pond. And since Larkspur Jellystone Park welcomes furry friends with their Bark Park, Rover doesn’t have to miss all the fun.

On the East Coast, check out Jellystone Park Campground at Tall Pines in Elmer, NJ , situated on 113 beautiful woodland acres in rural southwestern New Jersey. From a full size pool and outdoor movie theater, to basketball and volleyball courts, a playground, and a private lake fully stocked with fish, Yogi Bear provides plenty of fun things to keep his guests busy. The grounds also contain miles of walking and biking trails, a picnic pavilion, wifi access, and a lending library. Kids will love pretending to be pirates for Treasure Hunt Weekend (April 15-17), as they search for hidden booty to fill their treasure chests (we’re talking hundreds of dollars here- AARGH, me mateys!) Easter weekend is sure to be egg-cellent with the annual Egg Extravaganza.

In the friendly Midwest, Jellystone Park in Millbrook, IL (near Chicago) is ready to welcome guests in April with reduced rates all month. It’s Wake Up the Bears Weekend April 16-18 (buy one night, get the second free) so come ready to make lots of noise to rouse Yogi Bear, Boo Boo™ and Cindy Bear™ from hibernation. You’ll also love the family movie, Glitz & Glow Hayride, and camper talent show.
