5 Ways to Kick those RV Winterization Blues

5 Ways to Kick those RV Winterization Blues

It’s officially winter, and many campers across the United States have winterized and covered up their RVs for the next couple of months. Even some folks who are lucky enough to live in the beautiful sunbelt can’t get out to the campground as often as they would like.

So if you are one of those folks who’s feeling the winterization blues, we have some great tips that will keep you energized and happy until the next time you hit the open road in your rig.

  • Plan your trips for the 2017 RVing season.

RVing is more popular than ever, and the best campgrounds are filling up fast. This is the perfect time to dive into trip planning and make sure you have premium spots at your favorite RV parks. Also check the reservation window on any Jellystone Park you are looking to visit. A lot of Jellystone Parks fill up 6-9 months in advance.

  • Visit an RV show.

The winter months are the height of RV show season, and attending a local show will definitely scratch that RV itch. See the new models, keep current on pricing, and maybe find that next dream rig for your family. Even if you aren’t currently in the market for a new camper, RV shows offer seminars and lots of shopping opportunities. Bottom line? This is a fun way to spend a winter day!

  • Conquer and RV organization project.

The off-season is a great time to turn on that RV heat and clean out those cabinets and wardrobes. We all know space is at a premium in our RVs, yet we tend to collect a lot of junk anyway. As you go through your rig, get rid of anything you didn’t use during the previous camping season. Also think about how you might use adhesive hooks and baskets to stay more organized in the future.

  • Make a photo book or frame photos from your last camping season.

With digital photography, we take more pictures than ever before. Yet it’s really hard to find the time to sort through all those gorgeous images and actually print them out. We aim to make a Shutterfly book for each year of travel, and we also pick a few of our favorite prints for framing and hanging on the wall.

  • Go camping anyway.

Even though your RV is winterized, that doesn’t mean your camping season has to come to an end. Many campgrounds, even in the northeast, are extending their seasons and keeping heated bathhouses open and the electric hookups connected. This is a great time of year to RV to urban destinations like Washington DC, San Francisco, and New Orleans where you will find year round RV parks and plenty of indoor activities even if the weather is iffy.Winterizing your rig doesn’t have to bring an end to your RV fun. Use our five tips to kick those winterization blues, and in no time we will all be back at the campground!
